Care Prior to Dental Procedures at Our Centre in Edmonton

What You Can Expect Prior to Your Dental Procedure

Before your dental procedure at Callingwood Dental Health Centre and Suites, we update your medical history and ask about any dental concerns or questions you would like addressed before beginning treatment. We provide thorough pre-operative (pre-op) and post-operative (post-op) instructions, administer medications for sedation appointment, and check your vital signs (e.g. heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, etc.). A prescription may also be provided if necessary to the treatment.

Who Will Help You

One of our dental assistants will provide and discuss the pre-op and post-op instructions and take stock of your vital signs. Reception will schedule your appointments and coordinate treatments with your insurance.

Important to Remember

  • Be sure to drink plenty of fluids the day before your surgery
  • Arrange for a companion to escort you to and from your appointment (except if you are taking N2O sedation)
  • Arrive in comfortable clothes and t-shirt (easier to get blood pressure cuff on your arm) on the day of the surgery
  • Do not wear nail polish (so we can detect blood circulation)
