Oral, IV & Nitrous Oxide Sedation Methods at Our Edmonton Clinic

Every patient is different therefore every dental treatment is different. That also means that your sedation option should be tailored to your needs. At Callingwood Dental Health Centre in Edmonton, we offer three types of sedation: oral, IV, and nitrous oxide (laughing gas).

When Sedation Is Needed

Sedation can be needed for various procedures including, but not limited to:

  • Restorative fillings
  • Root canals
  • Extractions
  • Dental implants
  • Crown preparations
  • Cleanings
  • Gum/periodontal surgery
  • Severe gag reflex
  • Anxiety about treatment
  • Adding comfort during longer procedures and/or extractions

Some Side-Effects of Sedation

In general, sedation side-effects may include:

  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue
  • Possible allergic reaction

This is why a medical screening is performed prior to any sedation or treatment so that we can avoid any complications.
