At Callingwood Dental Health Centre, we encourage children to start learning about the importance of good oral hygiene as soon as possible. We recommend that you bring your child for their first dental visit around the age of 3. If you have a dental concern prior to that age, please bring them in sooner. Even seeing your local public health nurse can be a big help.
How We Work with Our Young Patients
Kids are invited to visit our dental office where we can show them “sugar bugs” (plaque) on their teeth and how we remove those bugs. It’s a fun process, as we go from colouring the plaque red, to using green toothpaste to take it off, all while talking about healthy habits. We believe that your child’s oral health and dental education are extremely important. From the basics of brushing and flossing to developing a connection with our dental kids, we hope to create long lasting relationships.
Free Daily Visits Available
For those kids that may find achieving oral health challenging, we have a special program that requires free daily visit to our office until the skills are properly demonstrated and oral health is improved. This we find encourages kids to learn to be responsible for their own dental health and hygiene routines at home. Depending on your child’s situation we may ask that they return anywhere from 3 to 6 months later to refresh their knowledge as well as have a checkup and cleaning.
